I no longer provide pure Pilates tuition. If you are interested in looking at all aspects of your health & wellbeing I’d be delighted to help, and will incorporate core stability basics into your programme as appropriate.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a body conditioning method that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. Targeting the deep postural muscles, it works by building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment.

Pilates will also improve posture, achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. It helps reshape your body, which will become longer, leaner and more toned. It is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.

All exercises are built around 8 key principles:

  • Breathing
  • Concentration
  • Flowing Movements
  • Alignment
  • Co-ordination
  • Centring
  • Stamina

The Pilates Approach

I use the Pilates approach to building core stability for all of my Personal Training & Lifestyle Coaching clients in York. Most of us have some sort of postural imbalance that can contribute to injury as we progress other fitness techniques. Pilates can help prevent this.
